R*Bandwidth Lease Services

The RASCOM-QAF satellites, operating from a prime orbital position (2.85 East), cover the entire African continent, including adjacent islands. RASCOM-QAF1, the first satellite, includes a large C-band beam whose coverage extends to parts of Europe and the Middle East, and two Ku-band beams with footprints over the northern and southern parts of the continent.

C-band transponder bandwidths are 72MHz, 68MHz and 66MHz. Ku-band transponder bandwidths are 22 MHz and 27 MHz.

RascomStar-QAF Bandwidth Lease Services (R*BLS) include full and fractional transponder leasing for short and long term periods. The services can be used for applications such as :

• Trunking connections
• IP connectivity,
• VSAT networks,
• GSM backhaul,
• TV and multimedia broadcast applications.
• Telephony and Data Trunking is offered in C-band

This conventional satellite service offer does not require a customer’s ground infrastructure specific to the RascomStar-QAF space segment. Customers of RASCOMSTAR-QAF lease bandwidth, power and connectivity on a static basis and benefit from :

• C-band power increased with respect to other satellites covering Africa today
• The full compatibility with C-band standard equipment, allowing operators to re-use infrastructure already installed
• For broadcasting and Internet services, two wide Ku-band coverage zones, allowing program and multimedia reception by small size antenna
